Stadium concerts may be grabbing headlines, but Caribbean music is making major moves at the arena level — especially at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
The venue, which sits on the edge of Queens and Long Island, has hosted five million-dollar-grossing Caribbean shows in just eight months, including performances by Machel Montano, Buju Banton, Carimi, Beres Hammond, and Sean Paul.
Machel’s 40th anniversary soca concert and Buju’s comeback shows brought in thousands of fans, while Carimi’s reunion concert made history as the first U.S. arena show by a Haitian act. UBS Arena has emerged as a hub for Caribbean music, thanks to its accessibility, affordability, and strong ties with the local Caribbean community — even tailoring food, vendors, and promotions to match the artists’ nationalities.
Promoters say the venue is more accommodating and community-focused than competitors like Madison Square Garden or Barclays Center. With upcoming shows from Aidonia and Beenie Man, and younger acts like Shenseea and YG Marley gaining momentum, Caribbean music is entering a new era of Stateside success.
