Mathew Knowles, father of Beyoncé and Solange, cut an interview short after a question about his ex‑wife, Tina Knowles, shifted the conversation in an unexpected direction. During a sit‑down with PIX 11 anchor Kendis Gibson, the interviewer referenced Tina’s early contributions to Destiny’s Child specifically her work styling the group and designing their costumes. Knowles immediately pushed back, asking, “What work did she put in?” before briefly acknowledging her role and then standing up to end the interview.
Knowles later explained that he felt the interview strayed too far from its intended focus: an upcoming Destiny’s Child tribute concert. He also noted that the interviewer arrived late, which set the tone for the exchange. Despite the abrupt ending, Knowles insisted there was no hostility, even describing his exit as polite.
The moment resurfaced long‑standing public interest in Mathew and Tina’s past. Their marriage, ended in 2009 after revelations of infidelity, and was marked by both creative collaboration and personal turmoil. Tina has since spoken openly about their difficult years, while also emphasizing that they remain on good terms and share pride in the success of their daughters.
