50 Cent real name Curtis Jackson is escalating his long‑running legal dispute with ex‑girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins, accusing her of using the court system to damage his reputation rather than resolve a contract disagreement. The rapper recently filed a motion supporting G‑Unit Books’ request to seal portions of Tompkins’ court submissions, arguing that her filings contain decades‑old allegations unrelated to the current case.
In a sworn statement, 50 Cent argued that Tompkins has inserted “inflammatory and defamatory” accusations into her filings and claims he says were already dismissed in a previous lawsuit. He warned that allowing these allegations into the public record could cause “immediate, severe, and irreversible” harm to his personal and professional reputation.
This dispute stems from a 2007 agreement in which Tompkins allegedly sold the exclusive rights to her life story to G‑Unit Books in exchange for an advance and future royalties. The company sued her in 2025, claiming she violated the contract by publicly discussing her past with the rapper in online videos.
Tompkins, however, says she signed the agreement under duress, alleging she was pressured by 50 Cent’s then‑manager and feared for her safety. She also disputes the payment amount, saying she received far less than what the company claims. Among the resurfaced claims are accusations of abuse during her pregnancy and suggestions that 50 Cent was involved in a 2008 house fire allegations he has long denied. The rapper argues these claims are being repackaged as legal arguments to sway public opinion.
A federal judge has already declined to issue a default judgment against Tompkins, noting she has defenses worth hearing. With an appeal pending and a conference scheduled for May 2026, the case continues to evolve into a high‑stakes battle over reputation, rights, and control of personal narrative.
