Gospel artist Deitrick Haddon says the gospel industry needs a “complete reset” after rapper GloRilla won Best Gospel/Inspirational Artist at the 2025 BET Awards.
Her song Rain Down On Me, featuring gospel stars like Kirk Franklin and Maverick City Music, earned her the win.
Haddon argued the award should go to someone “in the gospel space,” sparking mixed reactions online.
Some agree gospel artists deserve more recognition, while others defend GloRilla’s collaboration and message.
“Sinners have soul too,” one commenter noted.
GloRilla has yet to respond directly but thanked God during her acceptance speech.
She said she was nervous to ask Franklin to feature but was thrilled when he said yes.
