Hip‑hop icon Jay‑Z has spoken publicly for the first time about the December 2024 sexual assault lawsuit filed against him an allegation he has long denied and which eventually was dismissed two months later. In a rare interview with GQ, the 56‑year‑old artist described the ordeal as “heartbreaking” and “angering,” saying it triggered a level of emotional distress he hadn’t felt in years.
Jay‑Z explained that he refused to settle the case, insisting the claims were false and would ultimately collapse. He was later supported by NBC News when they uncovered inconsistencies in the accuser’s story, including conflicting timelines and evidence placing Jay‑Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs at a different location than what alleged.
After the lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice, Jay‑Z filed a defamation suit against the accuser and her attorneys, accusing them of being motivated by greed and causing significant harm to his reputation. He emphasized the toll the situation took on his family, saying, “I would not wish this experience on anyone.”
